Dear Sir,

Sri lanka is home for over 60 varieties of orchids but all are classified as endemic . exports of these are totally banned, moreover, it is an punishable offense to grow these species in the home gardens or used in landscaping or transporting from the forest region to the urban places. Many have attempted to smuggle out of the country has been detected and heavy fined imposed.

However, plants and Tissue cultured plants in compost are freely available of species widely grown for cut flowers , at reasonable prices.

I think removing orchids from wild is well protected even in other tropical
countries in Asia pacific. central America and other regions. under flora and Funa acts. For any information please address to my Private message box.
