Banana Planting information (which I copied from Sun Agrigenetics Brochure):
Time for planting: Throughout the year (except the time interval when temperature is either too low or too high), generally june-july, august and september-october are suitable for planting.
Soil: Heavy, fertile, alluvial with full organic fertilizer.
Distance: 6ft x 6ft, 6ft x 4ft, 7ft x 4ft.
Soil Preparation: cultivate the soil very well, prepare pits of 1ft x 1ft x 1ft and leave them open for some time. Then add 2 to 3 kg of organic fertilizer or matured & dried cow dung ) per pit, 5gm foret granules and 200 gm of neem oil cake. Remove the plant from the plastics bag and sow it in the centre of the pit.
Irrigation: Banana is a crop requiring good quality water of less than 800 TDS. Generally a requirement of 20-25 liters per plant can be considered on daily basis.
Irrigation is done in winter at 8-10 days interval and in summer at 5-6 day interval.
