Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been in Kenya for the last 3 years. I am interested in Dorper Sheep farming in Karnataka when I come back to India next year In Africa particularly, South Africa and Esat Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania), people here are breeding Dorper sheeps in big ranches. As I do not know animal husbandry, I request experienced Vet or expert in animal husbandry clarify me the following.
1) Whether this breed is available in India to purchase?
2) If not, which is the best and cheapest method of bringing Dorper genetics into India.?
3) Is any permission is required from Indian Govt. and from the importing country for bringing in the embryos? If yes, what are all the permissions and from which departments?
4) What is the cost involved in embryo transfer? Any expert Vet in this line is available in Bangalore for doing this job (Embryo Transfer Technology)?
5) If I bring Dorper semen from here, whether it will reproduce same offspring (Dorper) in other local breeds by Artificial Insemination (AI)? To bring Semen from here, what are all the permissions required?
Any advice will be highly appreciated.
