Hello Sir/Mam,

am planning to start dairy farm in my native i.e., Madapalli village, Chejerla Mandal, Nellore dist. Suggest which one i can use Cow or buffalo. If cow suggest me the breed which can withstand. Temperature would be around 40 degrees in summer. I have total area of 8 acres with how many cattles i can start the farm.

Hi

Dairy farming is suitable for your location. But check if any dairy farms nearby. Its better to have a distance of 5-6 kms between any 2 dairy farms. You can go ahead with cows and buffaloes. In Andhra Pradesh the important breeds include Ongole, Malvi, Deoni, Hallikar and Krishna Valley.
In Telangana and Rayalaseema 95% of the buffaloes are of non-descriptive type, whereas in coastal Andhra Pradesh the cross breed Murrah buffalo population is high.

If you are looking for exotic breeds then go for Jersey or HF. They adapt well.

Dear Ms.Ashwini,

Thanks for your suggestion. For actual dairy farm as you know many of us think to have Milchy cows/buffalos. If i have India breeds what will be the difference in ratio in terms of cost and Milking. please guide me in this.

And i do not have any dairy farm nearby but i have Milk collection centre in radius of 10 kms. One more dairy farm which is around 20kms far from where am planing to set up.

Please suggest.

Dear Dinesh Chandu , best suitable animal for Madapalli village in Nellore Dt is buffaloe. Even Holstein Frezian and Jersi Cross bred cows are also successful in Nellore Dt. For 8 acres of land you can start with 40-50 Animals . If you want a term loan to availed from any Bank please contact us for report and technical guidance.

I have worked as field officer in Naidupeta, Gudur, Atmakur, Seetharamapuram and at Nellore for 21 years . I know very well about the land and terrain.
