Hello all,

Rainy season is just 6 weeks away and its time to plan for the next flowering season

For those interested in doing chrysanthemum cut flowers in poly houses, I should be able to provide rooted cuttings with a notice of 8 weeks . Here is a collage of the varieties I have grown and which will defintely give good results .

chrysanthemums
I can guide you through the procedure as we go along.
The out line project is some what like this
Planting mother plants -Early June
Take cuttings for rooting -August – September
Start planting 1st September onwards
Flush starts end Dec-Jan
The maths :
At Rs 3 /rooted cutting a minimum of
10000 cuttings have to be bought. These yield a minimum of 60000 cuttings between august and september , so that you get the flush from late dec to feb.
I do a 24/squ mtr plantation. This means an acre can take 55000 plants.
You get 80 sell-able flowers per plant after pinching it at 6 leaf stage.
In season a bunch of 10 sprays sells for Rs60-70.
If you prune the crop well after harvest and manage the lights, you can make your own plants for the next season and avoid plant cost too.
Investment is primarily for a plastic covered house, support net lighting and black shade net cover
You are welcome to bring up other queries and I feel confident that i can help you make your project profitable
So Thumbs up to growing chrysanthemums

Hi,

I am interested in cultivating Chrysanthemums in my existing polyhouse of size: 36 Mtrs x 28 Mtrs. I already have beds made of width 0.60 Mtrs x Height 0.30 Mtrs. I hope these bed dimensions are suitable. I also have three drip lines on each bed with a dripper discharge of 1.01 Ltrs per hour. Pleae advice about going ahead with the ordering of plants as well as suitability of drip and beds. Also is it possible to cultivate this crop without any electrical lighting?
