Seed Treatment
Seed treatment with biofertilizer like Azospirillum can economise the use of inorganic form of nitrogen. First the seeds are mixed with required quantity of supernatant fluid
obtained in cooking the rice. The temperature of this fluid should be mild and should not be too high. By this a thin coating of the rice-cooked fluid is formed on the surface of
the seed. Then 2 kg of Azospirilum culture is sprinkled uniformly over this and stirre thoroughly so that a thin lining or layer of the Azospirillum culture is
formed over the seed coat. The seeds are dried in shade for half an hour and then sown on one sidof the ridges at the rate of 2 seeds/hill, at a spacing of 30 cm. Immediately the field is irrigated.
The Azospirillum can be applied through soil also by mixing 2kg of culture
with 10-15 kg of finely powdered well decomposed farm yard manure and
placed as band before sowing the seeds. Along with this 2kg of Phosphobacteria can be mixed so that the soil
Phosphorus will be made available early to the crop.
Chemical seed treatment with Carbandazim and Mancozeb @ 3g/kg seed
will give protection from many diseases.

It requires about 18 to 22 kg/ha of seeds during summer and 8 to 10 kg/ha for the rainy season.

25 tones of FYM / hectare and plough the field thoroughly.
Apply 30:50:50 Kg of NPK (N2, P2O5 and K2O)
top dress nitrogen 30 Kg/ hectare 2 times i.e.,30 days and 60 days after sowing.
(Total dose to be applied 90 Kg N + 50 Kg P2O5 + 50 Kg K2O.)
Irrigation Management
For a continuous growth and pod formation the crop should be irrigated very 5th or 6th day during hot season and every fortnight during cold season and as and when required for rainy season crop.
Weed Management and Earthing up
The crop should be protected from weeds upto 60 days.
Spray Fluchloralin 1 lit/ha, as pre emergence application 3 days after sowing. Irrigate the field immediately after herbicides spray for incorporation of
chemicals. Hand weeding should be done at 25-30 days after sowing.
